Adieu Lars Jacobsen

Fellow Evertonians must be wondering why David Moyes brought a decent Danish International Lars Jacobsen in at the start of 08/09 season only to release him to Blackburn Rovers for free.

The right back joined Everton from Nuremburg for free, injured himself in an International match, played 5 games, inclusive of one FA Cup Final, and now he leaves. He was a pretty decent player. But why did Moyes let him leave? Seemingly, the gaffer could not guarantee Jacobsen a first team place. It seems that Hibbo is still his first choice. Still, there needs to be cover an Hibbo was totally exposed, showing his lack of speed when time and time again during the FA Cup Finals, the marauding Chelsea attackers strolled past him.

One of many gaps that Moyes will have to fill now.

July 1 Transfer: Shkodran Mustafi

Everton has signed Hamburg's promising teenager Shkodran Mustafi at the end of May 09. A German U17 International, the young defender will join up with the rest of the squad when the transfer window opens.

With his 1.84m frame, he seems to be in the mold of Robert Huth.
