I was tracking this match from the web as it wasn't shown on cable and boy, was it nerve wrecking still!
The fans were hoping that Everton will do fine, but the concern has always been the leaky defence. The players are good but Moyes knows the problem was that nobody outside of the team could contest the defence places. Jacobsen was unfortunately injured in his international match and missed his debut for Everton. He would have kept the defence on their toes.
But it was the same start as most of their matches this season - Everton was one goal down in the first half. Disappointed no doubt, but I always felt that Everton stood a chance somehow. Then Everton went behind with another goal just at the start of the 2nd half. Scored by our very own Neville! My heart ebbed to the lowest point. this would have been the worst time for Everton to concede as while you're trying to gain parity, you realised you get kicked in the face with a second goal.
Everton's defence was totally out of sorts and it not until the introduction of Saha that lifted the spirits of the team. The first Everton goal came courtesy of Everton's talisman Timmy. A blast of a shot! The second came six minutes later with Ossie putting one past the opposing goalkeeper. What a miracle. Everton nearly snatched a late winner with Saha prodding through to the goal but his shot was well saved.
