WEST HAM (1) vs (2) EVERTON - FULL TIME

Everton is walking on a tight rope with lynch-pins Pienaar and Arteta still out. Creative flair is thus not in the Toffee's midfield department.

West Ham started the stronger side and they truly played fluently. They totally dominated the first 10 minutes. After that, both team went on a slow cooker mode. Not attacking much, but trying to gain possession in midfield.

In the 26th minute against the run of play, Saha scores! A totally natural scorer. Felli was making a nuisance of himself just outside the penalty area but was cleared by the opposing defender only as far as Timmy. The midfielder rolled the ball towards Saha who stuck the ball so sweetly past the goalkeeper and into the bottom left corner of the goal. West Ham 0-1 Everton. Assist by Timmy.

In the second half, Everton has to survive the dreaded 10 minutes of play that they so often concede goals. Saha is replaced by Yak in the 56th minute. Don't think it's injury, but I guess Moyes is using his personnel sparingly.

What a nonsense of a goal! A great scorcher by young Dan Gosling in the 64th minute. Yak was allowed space to bring the ball into the final third of the field. He protected the ball well and pushed it towards Gosling who scored with a lovely strike. West Ham 0-2 Everton.

West Ham reply was swift. A nice chip in the 64th minute beyond Howard which Hibbo stretched to clear, only to slice it into goal. West Ham 1-2 Everton.

The game is coming alive. Two near chances by West Ham, and Everton continues to live by the skin of their teeth. Gosling is replaced by Neill in the 75th minute. A lovely flying save by Howard from a free kick in the 78th minute.

The final 10 minutes is nerve wrecking! Another 5 minutes of extra time has been added! West Ham is pressing and nearly scored in the 93rd minute.

And the final whistle with Everton earned their hard fought three points with so much of a sigh of relief!

Score: West Ham 1-2 Everton
Scorer: Saha, Gosling
Assist: Timmy, Yak
Substitutes: Yak, Neill
