Everton moves into the third round of the Carling Cup after dismantling Sheffield United. It was good to see the return of Felli and Arteta. Anichebe was also brought in while Barkley made this his second start of what seems to be a long enterprising career ahead of him.

Ossie made a good run from Everton's third before dispatching a pass to Barkley on the right channel. Barkley sliced a delicious pass that Anichebe lapped it up with much pleasure. The third goal was truly a peach of a goal. Lively Barkley cuts from the right and was about to shoot, only to be foiled by the opposing defender. The ball rolled towards Arteta who curled the ball beyond on-rushing defenders and a diving goalkeeper. Everton 3-1 Sheffield Utd.
Ossie even had a chance to score when his thunderous shot smacked the bar and went out of play.
Still, it was a good match and Everton marches forward into the 3rd round of the Carling Cup.
