Everton lost Hibbo as early as the 5th minute. But Everton held on and even scored first. Ossie crossed the ball from the right channel for Pienaar to slam the ball into goal. Though The Toffees conceded a goal, Everton still advanced to the next stage.
This match also saw the debut of young defender James Wallace, and the return of Yak.
