Everton's Mind On Next Season?

Lack lustre, lack much bite, lack enthusiasm. That's what Everton's team looked like.

Everton in their bright pink away colours, saw three changes in their line-up. The Toffees welcomed back Arteta, while Timmy and Anichebe were brought in after their long bouts of injury as well.

The team that Moyes has lined up is not one that is attack-minded and when you make Anichebe your chief striker, you will usually get more duds than success. Wigan showed good control of the ball and  Everton had no answer to their controlled play.

Soon, Everton was down 1-0. Everton was caught playing Wigan's striker on-side in the 20th minute. Howard tried to close down the angle but was hookwinked after the Wigan striker curled the ball beyond Eveton's goalkeeper.

Ossie went for an immediate reply with a large smack on the ball in the 22nd minute. Palmed away by Wigan's goalkeeper.

Ossie made a nuisance of himself again a short corner taken by Bainesy, picked up by Ossie in the penalty area in the 24th minute. Good body feign that caused the Wigan player to tackle him from behind, drawing that penalty. Arteta stood up to take the penalty but was saved! On hindsight, the penalty should have been taken by Bainesy! What a waste!

Come half time, Moyes made no changes. Maybe he felt that they were playing well? He must be watching a different game. Why not bring in Becks?

Everton nearly went two down only for Howard to pull off two wonderful reflex saves in the 59th minute. Toothless!

Becks and Coleman were brought in for Arteta and Cahill. Everton earned themselves a penalty once again. Wigan has been giving Everton all the chances but they have failed to take their chances so far. This time, Bainesy took the penalty with such aplomb! Wigan 1-1 Everton.

Final change for Everton saw Magaye coming in for Anichebe.

Neville had to make his once a game near fatal pass! Overan with attackers but Wigan just had to fluff it!
Everton did not deserve the additional two points and what's more, they have lost their race for 6th position. Sigh. Becks made no impression in the game at all! Sigh. Moyes was also playing so defensively. Sigh sigh sigh!

Score: Wigan 1-1 Everton
Scorer: Bainesy (Pen)
Assist: Nil
Subs: Becks, Coleman, Magaye
