Everton's Moving Up

A point from this game means that it is confirmed that Everton will not be heading down. Moyes has to play half fit Coleman while none of the players on the bench are of known names.

Everton started strongly with a chance coming as early as the 8th minute. Becks picked up the ball and ran against the defence. His shot was on target but was parried away by the Villan's goalkeeper.

After that, the game became a little scrappy with Everton earning themselves two yellow cards. Heitinga and Jag for unsporting behaviour.

But Everton did pull ahead in the 37th minute, Bily broke Villa's play in their half. The Russian then placed a lovely pass for Ossie, who did not have to break his stride. His jinking run totally bamboozled Villa's defence. With two defenders sticking close to him, Ossie unleashed a speculative shot. Villa's goalkeeper got a hand to the ball but not enough to keep it out. Everton 1-0 Villa.

Good for Everton. But Moyes has a problem at hand. In the 40th minute, Becks seemed to have pulled his hamstring. Looking at the reserve bench, you have Gueye, Vellios and Mustafi. Know any of these names? Nope! But well, Moyes will have to choose one of them. We'll get to see a young player upfront. A true baptism of fire.

Miraculously, Becks is back on the field with his right hand being wrapped up. Huh? Thought it was his thigh?

Villa took the chance well straight from the 2nd half and got themselves back with a goal in the 47th minute. Everton 1-1 Villa.

We see Gueye for the first time with him replacing Coleman in the 52nd minute.

Gueye's first contribution was from a corner in the 56th minute. Heitinga puts in a blinding header but was palmed away instinctively. Ossie had a chance for himself in the 59th minute but his shot was just wide. To be fair, it was a difficult bal to control. Gueye is showing us that he has a pretty good right feet.

Becks hits the bar and it has crossed the line! But instead, Everton is now trailing by a goal. What a sucker punch! There should also have been a goal line technology! Everton 1-2 Villa. What a mess!

Ossie had a chance from free kick in the 74th minute but he blasted it!

Moyes is debuting Vellios for Distin whi had a tremendous game.

It was Everton pressuring Villa for the last 10 minutes and it has to be Jag who led the way. A wonderful run was somehow halted in the penalty box. Penalty. Cooly taken by Bainesy! Everton 2-2 Villa.

Ossie had a chance again in the 91st minute but once again fluffed the shot. He should have scored a brace of goals right now.

This was one game that Everton should have won. It ended as a draw and the good thing is that we gained a point while Pool got none.

Score: Everton 2-2 Villa
Scorer: Ossie
