A well deserved win!

A penalty nearly cost Everton, but it was a late penalty that won this match for Everton.

Everton sees a changed backline with Distin and Neville out. In comes Heitinga to shore up the central defence. Good to see both Felli and Drenthe back in midfield. Cahill continues to pair up Saha as the guy in the hole. This is one game that we truly have to win.

Drenthe did not evoke much confidence as he made a dangerous pass in his own half as early as the 1st minute. Thank goodness the danger was averted.

A lovely chance in the 15th minute. Cahill set up a lovely chance for Saha who knocked the ball towards goal. Saved.

Drenthe has been pegging along the left channel and have been creating havoc in that area but putting in cross after cross.

A sweet one-two between Drenthe and Bainesy in the 22nd minute that forced a rushed clearance by Wolves. The corner amounted to nothing once again. It's been awhile since we last saw an Everton player score from a corner kick.

After all the possesion, Everton gave away a penalty in the 37th minute and Wolves is now in front. Everton 0-1 Wolves. Felli made that challenge but I can't blame the referee for giving it as it looked like a penalty. But with the chance of instant replay, Felli looked like he did not touch the Wolves player at all.

Suddenly Wolves started to play flowing football. But against the run of play, Everton won themselves a free kick which was dispatched by Baines. Jag rose the highest and directed the ball into the net. Everton 1-1 Wolves.

In the final minute, Felli struck the ball with so much power that the goalkeeper could not hold on to the ball. Cahill was in but was seemingly pulled back. No penalty? Why? After this incident, the referee quickly blew his whistle, most likely to extricate himself from the field just in case Felli runs him down.

Everton has to make Goodison a true fortress that teams will be afraid to play at. How to do that is to really plummet these teams with all we have.

How did Everton not score? A good run by Coleman. Beats his man, lovely low cross into the penalty area. Saha backheeled the ball for Cahill and he struck the ball sweetly. Stopped by both the defender and goalkeeper. Shortly after in the 70th minute, Drenthe had a chance but it was thumped away.

In the 73nd minute, Cahill is out Vellios is in and it was a pull on him that Everton has been awarded a penalty in the 83rd minute. Bainesy stood up and made it count. Everton 2-1 Wolves.

In the 85th minute, Drenthe out, Bily in. Why oh why is he brought in? Final sub in the 90th minute. Saha out, Strac in.

It does not matter. Everton has taken the three points. That is what matters.

Score: Everton 2-1 Wolves
Scorers: Jag, Bainesy (Pen)
Assist: Bainesy
Subs: Vellios, Bily, Strac
