FA CUP: EVERTON vs LIVERPOOL - FULL TIME

Courtesy of www.evertonfc.com

Everton has played Liverpool three times this year and we have obtain 2 draws and a loss. We stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the "Bird" whenever they played the city rival. Today, Anichebe has been left out because of a training ground altercation with Moyes. This is really dumb as now is the time that we need all players to be counted.

Pool has the first shot on everton's goal in the 6th minute but missed right. Close. The Reds has more of the ball and are passing pretty well. Hurray!, Great to see Pool's Gerrard out of the game with Benayoun coming in to replace the Red's captain in the 15th minute.

From a free kick in the 24th minute, Everton gave Pool a bit of a headache with the final shot by Ossie that zipped past the horizontal bar. Timmy had a better chance in the 25th minute but he was totally crowded out by three defenders in the penaltybox.

Felli has been rather ineffective in the 1st half and has been replaced by young Gosling. Felli had barely won any balls for Everton, but got a yellow card for his toil instead. Pienaar is replaced by Rodwell in the 60th minute.

A bad, bad pass by Jag in the 61st minute nearly caught Everton out if not for Howard's brilliant save to ensure the ball goes out for a corner instead of going into goal. In the 70th minute, Timmy lay-off the ball for Ossie who smashed the ball against the goal post! So close! Pool's player got sent off. Second yellow card.

Pool should just give up. Both teams now move into extra time ET). Both teams will be all so tired. But I guess it will be harder for Pool with one man short. Their strikers are not threatening Everton much now.

Start of the 1st extra time with Everton pressing the issue. Double save byPool from Ossie's shot and thn Gosling's follow up. for the corner, Cahill attacked the ball very well and all it needed was a touch in the penalty box. That did not come. In the 8th minute of ET, a cross by Hibbo found Gosling open but the latter headed wide. 1st ET is done.

Finally!!! So, so long a fight. A lovely cross by VdM from the right flank. The ball was well trapped by Gosling within the penalty box. He turned two defenders before curling the ball into the far right corner of Pool's goal. Everton 1-0 Pool. And Everton wins!

Totally brusing match!

Score: Everton 1-0 Liverpool
Scorer: Gosling
Assist: VdM
Subs: Gosling, Rodwell, VdM
