This was a game not for the faint hearted and many times, the faith of the Toffees supporters were tested to the limit.
No one expected the game to be simple, and it was made more difficult when Everton went a goal down in the 23rd minute. Before that, Everton had been taking in the pressure and it was not easy going for Tim Howard.
There wasn't really much that Everton could muster in the first half, and the question on everone's lips was whether it'll end like our previous foray into Europe where it ended in tears.
Second half saw a very different team as the Toffees came out fighting. Shortly after the start, Everton's top scorer Lescott put one past the opposing keeper to restore parity.
But Everton then went down to another goal, and this time it felt like it was all over with the aggregate of 3-2.
Faddie saw it differently as the in-form striker made sure Everton had the advantage by scoring the all important goal. 3-3 with Everton having the advantage. All was settled when Anichebe rounded he keeper and put in the final nail in the coffin of Metalist Kharkiv after the opposing defenders made a mess of clearing the ball.
Glorious victory and great that the Toffees have moved on to the group stage of the UEFA Cup.
